LETTERS FROM MEMBERS

In response to questions about the occasional use of Bible translations other than the King James Bible in the Golden Text and/or Responsive Reading of upcoming Bible Lessons, Nathan Talbot, Clerk of The Mother Church, invited members to read the letter of February 19 from the Christian Science Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society, reprinted on the preceding page.

Commenting on the responses he has received, Mr. Talbot said: "Helpful and interesting discussions can take place within the Christian Science movement. Discussion opportunities are available on christianscience.com, tmcyouth.com, as well as in the print periodicals and e-mail exchanges. To date, favorable responses on this issue have outnumbered unfavorable ones by about three to one. Underlying this particular discussion, however, may be an unspoken question: To what degree do we trust Mrs. Eddy's wisdom in placing decisions like this in the hands of the Trustees of the Christian Science Publishing Society and the Christian Science Board of Directors?"

Following is a sampling of the responses regarding the Bible translations.
