LETTERS

I finally got a moment to write and express how grateful I am for Ruth Walker's article, "Compassion for those in disgrace," in the December 10 issue ["True manhood"]. It was just what I needed to steer my thought about my perspective on a highly publicized criminal malpractice case involving a previously well-respected surgeon in our area.

He has a family, and as I prayed for their protection and divine justice, I tried to find a way to gently remind my colleagues not to judge or partake in the slander, as people tried to distance themselves from this man in sometimes unloving ways.

Now I have just what I need to point out the Christlike way to behave in such circumstances and how to keep thought focused on healing instead of judging.
