HEALED THROUGH THE LORD'S PRAYER

SINCE I got to know Christian Science some eight years back, its teaching has been so helpful to me. Knowing the nature of God, His love, and my relationship to Him, I am able to comfortably deal with day-to-day discords that I sometimes encounter.

One night I woke up with a wave of pain in my right ear. The pain was so intense that I couldn't sleep. I got up and went to another room so I wouldn't disturb my brother, and I started to pray. But the pain persisted, making it difficult to concentrate well.

Then I remembered the Lord's Prayer being called the prayer which "covers all human needs" (Science and Health, p. 16). The moment I was through praying the Lord's Prayer, I pondered its meaning, and I debated within myself, wishing that my need for healing would be met. My whole attention was focused on understanding the Lord's Prayer until the prayer had a meaning to me. I held to the thought that as the spiritual idea of God, I am perfect, not separated from Him. Being in harmony was my right, because God was my Father-Mother. He was with me right there and was supreme, and not the pain.
