God does the rest

Welcoming you to this week's exploration of spiritual healing in Christian Science is in itself a welcome task. For curing sickness and pain through spiritual means alone brings with it the joy of getting to know God as the ultimate healer. And when He is seen as the maintainer of all health, our inherent yearning to help others feels even more natural. Hence, our invitation to join us in considering that anyone can be a healer.

Mary Baker Eddy wrote in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, her how-to book about spiritual healing, that Jesus healed because he knew God. "Knowing that Soul and its attributes were forever manifested through man," she wrote, referring to God as the Soul of existence, "the Master healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, feet to the lame, thus bringing to light the scientific action of the divine Mind on human minds and bodies and giving a better understanding of Soul and salvation" (p. 210).

Begin reading, and you'll encounter discussions with members of The Christian Science Board of Education, who are also teachers of Christian Science. They bring out that healing begins in the heart, with the wish to help others. From there, they say—echoing what Jesus taught—God does the rest.
