protected at gunpoint

PONDERING the first books of the Old Testament, one finds great demonstrations of spiritual power. I am fascinated by the path of the powerful man Moses, a valiant spiritual guide striving to reach the highest sense of life as God, Spirit. All the phenomena surrounding Moses' life express to me the waves of his spiritual growth.

Moses, Elijah, the Apostle Paul, and other Biblical prophets express, in different degrees, the Christ. Yet I've learned in Christian Science that Jesus expressed most fully the nature of Christ. "Christ is the true idea voicing good," wrote Mary Baker Eddy, "the divine message from God to men speaking to the human consciousness" (Science and Health, p. 332).

I've also learned from this Science of Christ that God is the only Mind, and that as God's child, my purpose is to bear spiritual witness to God's nature. And that when confronted with new challenges and experiences, my faith and obedience to God need to be sharpened.
