Prayer removes growth on back

One day when I was changing my shirt, I felt a growth on my lower back. At first, I didn't think much about it. I just came to accept it as part of the "topography" of my back.

A number of months later, after I was married, my wife commented on the growth and told me she was concerned about it. She said a member of her family with a similar condition had passed on as a result of it. Both my wife and I had grown up practicing the teachings of Christian Science, so it was natural for her to ask me if I had prayed about it. I told her, quite honestly, I hadn't.

Not long after that, I did stop ignoring the growth and began to pray about it. Throughout my life, I had relied on the ideas in the Bible and Science and Health for healing, guidance, and inspiration. Studying these two books had taught me that the healings recorded in the Bible, especially those of Jesus, were not unrepeatable events of a time long gone, but are possible here and now. They were based on the eternal, spiritual laws of God. Those laws supercede the often-unquestioned material laws of sickness and suffering.
