"Perfect angels"

God's "image and likeness" has no choice but to be good!

I Recently went to a delicatessen on my lunch hour. It was particularly busy, and everyone working there was in a flurry of activity. As I stood in line at the cash register, I noticed a little girl, about two years old, behind the counter. She was playing quietly as her mother worked. As I am the mother of a two-year-old, I was very pleased to see this. The customer in front of me was astonished that the little girl could be so quiet and satisfied with her place. She exclaimed, "Your child is a perfect angel!" Her mother replied, "Well, of course she is. She doesn't have a choice!" I immediately recognized that, in a metaphysical context, there was solid truth to her remark. I rejoiced as I acknowledged the spiritual fact that God's children are "perfect angels" because they cannot choose to be otherwise!

As a student of Christian Science I have learned that what the Bible says in its first chapter is true. God created all, and when He looked upon His creation He knew it was very good. God is Himself completely good, and He created man in His image and likeness.

We can come to know that man has no choice but to be good as we understand the meaning of "image and likeness." An image is an exact representation, and a likeness is a copy. Another way to say image and likeness might be "mirror image," or reflection.
