FROM THE EDITORS

Is it possible to succeed in the business world without compromising ethics and morals? Of course it is. Although news reports sometimes describe how people have acquired millions dishonestly or knowingly caused serious damage to the environment, perhaps more attention needs to be given to those individuals who have made, and are making, honesty, virtue, and decency the hallmark of their business practices. ...

We recently learned of a way one successful businessman studies the Bible, and how he uses what he learns in the Scriptures not only to help his company and employees prosper but to help him be a better person. He says, "Throughout all the inspiring teachings of the Bible, the key word to me is love—love God; love your neighbor; love yourself. My love of the teachings (particularly those of Jesus!) shines like a beacon, lighting my way. ... I pray that I progress spiritually more and more."

This very busy person told us that he has just finished a reading of both the Old and New Testaments, and he feels that "this year's Bible study can only bring fruit to my life by my daily practice of what I have learned." In this week's Sentinel you will read how others have looked to God and prayer in today's business world.
