FROM THE EDITORS

The oneness of God is a concept that appears frequently in the Bible. Consider, for example, these passages from the Old Testament: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me"; "The Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one"; and from the New Testament: "To us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him." These are just a few of the Bible verses which proclaim God's supremacy. God is truly the only creative intelligence governing the universe. ...

Also in the Bible is this statement: "I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." These "thoughts of peace" are from God to inspire and heal. They are really the only thoughts of substance we have.

God's ideas of grace and love and joy have the power to transform us. They have the power literally to change our lives and make us new men and women. As God's children, we aren't subject to emotional highs and lows, stresses and strains, mental turmoil. We each reflect the one unchanging Mind, who is God. And this divine Mind provides us with real peace: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
