Spiritual understanding and newness of life

Man's life in God is continuously fresh and vigorous.

Divine Love will never stop loving us. Eternal Life will never stop being expressed. The everlasting Life that is Love—that is God Himself—forever maintains our individual, ageless, spiritual identity. This absolute truth is ours to prove in increasing measure.

In her Miscellaneous Writings Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, explains how to keep the vision of life fresh: "To preserve a long course of years still and uniform, amid the uniform darkness of storm and cloud and tempest, requires strength from above,—deep draughts from the fount of divine Love." And then she adds: "Truly may it be said: There is an old age of the heart, and a youth that never grows old. ... The fleeting freshness of youth, however, is not the evergreen of Soul..." (p.ix).

God is the eternal Principle—Life, Truth, and Love. Man, in reality, is the ageless, diseaseless, deathless expression of Life—the forever holy, immortal idea of Love. Because this is the spiritual fact, we each can express the admirable qualities associated with youth, as well as the noble, trustworthy ones seen in maturity. Man, in truth, includes the complete range of God's qualities. All of us, then, can manifest purity and innocence, spontaneity, love, vitality, wisdom, and poise. There are no accumulating years, nor is there declining worth, in timeless being. Man is not biological or psychological, and so, temporal and subject to decline, but is spiritual and forever perfect. Our yielding to and expression of the divine nature determines our well-being.
