MOMENT BY MOMENT

The gentle
bend in tenderness—
reaching to raise with fullest strength
that traveler wounded by thieves,
lifting him up
and bringing him
by faithful beast
safe to the inn.
To bend speaks tenderness
humility
compassion
love.

In joy
the free look upward—
grateful for good received,
strong in conviction of all good
to come,
clad in bright armor,
greeting with eager eyes
each morning's sun.
To stand erect speaks confidence
joy
gratitude
and strength.

Whether to bend or firmly stand—
moment by moment
the listening one
will know.
