When my small niece was asked one day what she wished to be when she grew up, she tossed her little blond head and, to the amusement of her questioner, replied, "I just want to be myself."

Little did the child realize the spiritual significance of her statement, so obvious in the familiar words that Shakespeare put into the mouth of Polonius:
