Goodness is not a coincidence

Early in my freshman year at college, a bizarre incident led me to see that healings in Christian Science are not coincidental but, rather, demonstrations of God’s true power.

My friends were performing at an on-stage event on campus one weekend, and I was eager to applaud them, so I went to the front row, where I could stand as close as possible. Unfortunately, standing so close to the stage turned out to be a bad idea. At some point in the first act, one of the performers flung his arm out in an act of enthusiasm, and the mouthpiece of the recorder he had been playing flew out at the audience, hitting my forehead very hard.

This all happened so fast it seemed surreal. I was more surprised than hurt, but because I was bleeding, one of my friends quickly got up and guided me out of the auditorium. I was fortunate to have a Christian Science nurse on my college campus, who helped clean my wound. My resident counselor, who had seen the incident, quickly called my parents, who lived close by.
