God believes in you!

Some time ago, I watched a TV talk show where one of the participants was asked, “Do you believe in God?” I pretended to ask myself the same question and said out loud: “Yes! And even more than that, God believes in me!”

During a hard time concerning my job, when I had only a little income, I desperately turned to God and started to pray. Again and again in my life, I’d seen doors of opportunity and supply open up when another way had just closed. This time I prayed to gain a more sustaining sense of God’s supply for me. I really listened for what God would say. Then I heard these words as if they were spoken to me in my thinking: “I cannot do without you!”

The meaning of this message dawned on me faintly at first. But what became clearer and clearer to me was that God went on believing in me and providing for me even though I couldn’t yet recognize His provisions in my circumstances. I saw that my faith in Him had to be proved. Step by step, as I gradually came to better understand my relationship with God, I saw His ongoing loving supply for my family and me.
