Eye on the World: Prayer about wars and rumors of wars

Wars and threats seem to abound from Libya to Ukraine along with ongoing challenges in the Middle East. Earnest prayer that affirms the reality of God’s love for all and of His omnipotent goodness is a good starting point.

Other people have prayed about such issues, and here is a sampling of ideas that inspired them.

“Love is forever,” says Elizabeth Glass Barlow in her poem, “Stillness.” It offers healing thoughts to a “world held in agony,” and a gentle touch that offers hope.

Joyce Wethe Robertson, thinking through the challenge of wars and how to pray about them, comments, “... these times call on us to turn in prayer to God, rather than to personal opinions about war and the details associated with it.” (“Wartime prayers”).
