Christian Science practitioner and teacher Mary Alice Rose recently participated in a JSH-Online chat on the topic of “government under God”—a government in which everyone is cared for.
The ideas she discussed speak with real inspiration to the ongoing efforts of the Christian Science Committee on Publication to share Christian Science with elected representatives in Washington, DC. In fact, for several years now, Church members across the country have joined the Committee’s US Federal Office team in supporting and participating in this work.
These efforts have centered on ensuring that Christian Scientists are represented in the ongoing discussion of health-care reform, and that their needs are met under the health-care reform law (the Affordable Care Act, or ACA). This law requires that most Americans purchase qualifying health insurance, starting in January 2014.
If you’d like to learn more, or find yourself wondering how the Affordable Care Act will affect you, the US Federal Office is hosting a live online audio town hall event on this subject on Tuesday, September 24, at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
The town hall will include:
- the latest updates from the Committee on Publication
- a discussion of what options currently exist for Christian Scientists in the ACA
- how you can prepare for January 1, 2014
- answers to questions you’ve sent in!
You are warmly invited to participate in this online audio event! Visit the US Federal Office webpage for more information and to join the town hall on September 24th. Submit your own questions to firstname.lastname@example.org before and during the event!
