When you open a shade to let light into a room and then the whole room fills with light—this is the effect that gratitude can have. Even a small amount of gratitude can be a step out of darkness or distress or illness, and can be a step into light. Gratitude is a form of seeing and acknowledging good and in this way, it’s a form of acknowledging the goodness of God.
